Superintendent's Welcome

The 2016-2017 school year was a year of many challenges and successes for Richmond Community Schools. We celebrate the many accomplishments of our students and teachers inside the classroom and outside the classroom. We are proud of our students as they continue to compete academically on the state and national levels. Our Business Professionals of America students and our Health Occupation Students of America once again represented our community well at the national level. We also celebrate our elementary and intermediate students and the opportunities they had competing in robotics as well as other leadership opportunities at the state level.

This year was also a year of transformation for our teachers as we move towards blended learning. Our teachers have done a great job participating in and leading professional development in this area. A goal of mine has been to provide opportunities to our teachers so they can continue to enhance their teaching techniques and strategies. This year our teachers have been able to participate in three corporate-wide professional development opportunities that offered multiple sessions each hour and our teachers facilitated these sessions. This was complimented by the many opportunities that were provided within the individual buildings. We know our students benefit when our teachers collaborate with each other.

We continue to offer the most complete and extensive curriculum in east central Indiana. This is complimented by educational, co-curricular, and extra-curricular opportunities for our students that simply do not exist in other school districts in our region. We are proud of the diversity our students experience in our schools and the impact it has on their education. When our students graduate from Richmond High School, they are prepared to be successful in their next phase of life.

We are now on the brink of unchartered territory for Richmond Community Schools as we roll out PowerUp, our technology initiative that will impact the educational experience we provide for our students at every grade level and equip our students with 21stcentury skills. We are working to provide the experiences and knowledge base our students will need to be successful in their future endeavors.

This is an exciting time and we know there will be challenges along the way, but ultimately our students and community will be better because of this initiative.

WeRrichmond and we are Proud to be Public!
